How To Get A Discount At The Pharmacy Using Medicare

If you hit the donut hole you have to start shopping for all the discounts you can find.

You may be surprised to find that some of the older generic drugs go for as low as $4.00 for a 30 day supply and as little as $10.00 for 3 month supply.

Members of Sam’s Plus program can get free drugs if you paid cash to join.

You may find it less expensive to use the discounts than to through than making an insurance claim.

You must be proactive at the drug counter because some pharmacies that are part of a chain will not offer the discount if you don’t ask. Even if you have Tricare or Medicaid you must ask about a discount on your prescriptions.

Some of the chain pharmacies are claiming that the rules about offering discounts by the government are very clear and to avoid issues that tell their employees not to bring it up unless asked. So Ask About A Discount!

Stores like Walmart offer discounts and even FREE prescriptions because they make money when you shop other products in their stores.

We have been telling you for sometime now not to use your prescription card if your prescription can by filled with a generic drug. The reason for this is that the insurance companies pay the different in the price over and above what you pay and their share of the cost goes towards putting you in the “donut hole” sooner.

Medicare & Medicaid Services does not require you to your prescription card if you don’t want too.  You are free to choose which option serves your needs best.

Medicare & Medicaid to use your prescription card unless you tell them that you don’t to use your prescription card and prefer to use the discounted price.
