Social Isolation Due To COVID-19. While social isolation and loneliness were prevalent in the population prior to COVID-19, efforts like stay-at-home orders, quarantine, and social distancing recommendations have exacerbated an already serious problem.

. Loneliness and social isolation can be as damaging to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day,  and the problem is particularly acute among seniors, especially during holidays.

How do you fight off loneliness?

Give yourself time to feel your full sadness , Acknowledge your feelings of loneliness, and that it will pass,

JOIN a dance class group , to overcome loneliness, AND HAVE  in-person connectionS.

Reach out to people, don’t be afraid of being turned down.

Know when to engage,or disengage from the online world when combating loneliness.

Open up about, how you’re feeling, Talk to a friend, or relative.

Find a volunteer opportunity, as a way to feel less lonely,

Keep a gratitude journal.

You must Practice self-compassion.

Exercise has been shown to trigger endorphins in the brain.

Sunshine can do much the same thing as exercise

Sleep is closely tied to emotional health.

Limit sugar and caffeine before bed, turn off digital devices for some relaxation time, and make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark.

Dance Your Way Out Of Loneliness

When I was going through a rough time I joined a Tango Dance Class and met some wonderful people.

I also took East Coast Swing classes and met some more wonderful people.

I knew how to dance Salsa so i started to go to latin dances and met more wonderful people.

You will find in dance wonderful people waiting for you to join them.
