These words are more important now than ever. Banks will never initiate unexpected emails, texts, or phone calls asking for your personal data, account, or card numbers. Always remember, if you receive such a message, it is most likely a scam. A New Type of Crime Called “”Bank Jugging Understanding Bank Jugging “Now, let’s talk about a troubling trend known as ‘bank jugging.’ This is when robbers follow victims home from banks to rob them. Just recently, Baltimore reported 21 ‘bank jugging’ robberies in the first week of July alone. Unfortunately, these cases are happening all over the United States.” Tips to Stay Safe “So, what can you do to protect yourself? Here are some essential tips: 1. Be Observant: Always be aware of your surroundings when you visit the bank. Look out for anyone who might be watching you too closely or following you. 2. Conceal Your Cash: When withdrawing money, make sure to do it discreetly. Avoid counting your cash in public or showing it off. 3. Travel in Pairs: If possible, take someone with you when you go to the bank.There’s safety in numbers. 4. Vary Your Routine: Try not to have a predictable pattern when visiting the bank.
