So convenient but you must be consistent on getting a tight retraction of the tape on the part you measure. I guess I’ll get better with practice, but I find getting the tape to retract by pressing the retract button when you are measuring a part is problematic because the tape spool entrance and the tape are not lined up typically and so you have to repeatedly wiggle and press the retract to get a tight but not choking fit of the tape around the body part you are measuring. For that reason, my measurements wind up somewhat more than when I do it manually with manual measuring tape. It’s very difficult to measure the neck, shoulders, and chest if you have no assistance, whereas if you measure with a manual measuring tape only the shoulders are difficult to measure, mainly because of inconsistent posture. All that said, the Bluetooth connection is effortless and the transfer of the measurement to the Smartphone Renpho app as well. The Renpho app for this device I find ambiguous and confusing to learn but I figured it out. When doing the measurements with the device you’ll find yourself accidently fat fingering the advance to the next part button before you have the measurement correctly situated. I will keep using it and see if I get better at using it.

I wasn’t expecting this to work as well as it does – I love it! Yeah, I had hoped but expected the measurements to be slightly off or hard to use. NOPE! EASY to use, really easy to separate your measurements for each area! Incredible! Great that this technology has filtered down to people who are working out daily without a professional with them! LOVE IT and recommend it.
I do not know about the program yet as I am just using it as a measuring device. Will add it bad or good but expecting it to work well since the device is excellent!

I am beyond frustrated with the Renpho Smart Measuring Tape. This device is an absolute nightmare to use. Despite showing that it has saved my measurements, it often doesn’t. Even worse, it jumps between body parts and then overrides previous measurements, making it impossible to track progress accurately.
The entire experience has been extremely aggravating. After multiple failed attempts to get this thing to work properly, I ended up tossing it straight into the garbage bin – exactly where it belongs. Do yourself a favor and save your money for something that actually works. This product is nothing but a waste of time and money.

Sometimes the scale doesn’t tell the complete picture. This device helps me record and maintain my measurements with the app. Every easy to use.

I really was excited to get this tape measurer with a digital readout, I take weigh-ins and measurements weekly for dieting and I’ve been using the same old manual tape measurer I got for free. I’ve seen this tape measurer and wanted to try it out and give an honest opinion.
The max length of the tape is 60 inches, the tape itself is way too thin and its sticky too. So its really hard to get it around a body part then try to reel it in with the button without it getting stuck to your skin, or the magnetic tape end holder popping out. Much less saving a measurement after completing it. I know my body is pretty symmetrical so my arms or legs being almost a whole inch off from the other is just not accurate at all.
Thankfully there is also a re-calibration feature for the tape measurer because when I took my initial measurements I noticed it was adding 1.6 inches to all of my measurements because it wasn’t zero’d out.
This tool is more for people to measure themselves with clothes on, which I guess is okay but not ideal especially if you’re trying to track accurate changes to your body. If the company offers a different type of tape measurer that utilizes the same app I may be interested, otherwise this one is a 50/50 for me.
The packaging, the manual, and everything else about ordering the product was great. Its just the product itself that fell short for me.

Sometimes updates are real updates. That is the case here. Almost everything I said about its predecessor device (RF-BMF01), which I awarded one star, has been improved or fixed. To quote my previous review, “…This thing is about useless, and if not that, horribly inefficient. […] It never stays connected to the app. You have to reboot it constantly. It turns itself off all the time. The tape itself is much too narrow. The locking mechanism is awkward at best, and fails frequently. When you tell it to record a measurement, sometimes it might, but often refuses. It comes up with imaginary measurements. The battery compartment is much more complicated to access than necessary. I hate it.”
It might still turn off frequently, but it remembers where you were when you either adjust the tape or turn it back on. The screen guides you through the body part you should be measuring (you can toggle to skip), and you do not need to be connected to the app until you finally save your measurements set with a long press on the device’s save button. The locking mechanism, once I figured it out, isn’t terrible, and you are advised to pull on the tape feed side when you need more tape, not near the locking side, which will often unlock the tape. Once I got the hang of the thing, it is faster than manually recording everything, and the Renpho Health App is decent but excellent at archiving all your data which can be exported. You can even set body part goals and on the “Trends” view, see your progress towards your goals, marked with racing car finish line flag icons on the charts.
This would be 5-stars if the learning curve wasn’t there. But 10-15’ should let you master it and then you’ll be speedy when you take subsequent measurements.
Best of all I don’t hate it. We are friends at least.

There is a little learning curve in using this product, but once you get the hang of it, it is so much easier to take body measurements than a regular tape measure. I like the Renpho app that connects to this through blue tooth and keeps track of my progress for me.
