In addition to determining all the right supplements to take one has to figure out the optimal dosing cycle. If you’re up to 15 or more pills a day, it can be quite daunting to figure out what to take when. Some interact with each other and others yet with certain foods. All those omega3-6-9 and fat soluble types may cause additional gastrointestinal stress if your meal is not big enough to absorb them. Some are better off in the am, for instance anything that stimulates the mind or promotes energy. Some require empty stomach or 2 hours between meals argentine and glutamine to name two.
Bottom line is you need to know how best to take them or you’re not getting maximum benefit and even wasting your money.
A chapter to cover this would have been great.

Dr. Smith went the extra mile: His book enabled me to identify my personal health needs, provided information about what to do, what to take, how much to take, and gave descriptions of the supplements along with identification of companies whose supplements are most reliable. I completed the chart for fibromyalgia and took my results with a list of the suggested supplements to my doctor’s office last week. My doctor went over the list with me and selected the supplements he felt I should try first and offered some professional comments about them. Since I am allergic to all non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and several other drugs, I am very interested in finding a more “natural” way to relieve the discomfort of this condition. I am hopeful at last.

This book is a summary of the Life Extension Foundation basic vitamin supplement program to live a healthier and longer life. My reaction when I became a member of the Foundation is that they were just another pill pushing business with a membership fee. Not so! A friend of mine told me they have a basic program and it turns out they do and this book is a key to to the basic program and to getting getting started properly. If you are like me interested in living a longer and heathier life, I would recommed you purchase this book.

This book is a great and valuable resource fro those interested in supplementing their nutrition. A number of authors have pointed out the fact that
the nutrition contained in food has deteriorated over the decades due to soil exhaustion , the practice of replacing only a limited number of nutrients in fertilizer , the overuse of pesticides , and ( in my opinion ) the practice of growing ( or more like manufacturing ) food that has perfect appearance at the expense of nutrition. The author , an M.D. who is associated with a very prestigious organization called Life Extension , first addresses the basic supplements he recommends for everyone , then step by step , goes through a range of ailments and the specific supplements he recommends for each one. This book is copyright 2014 , which is relevant because a vitamin supplement resource needs to be relatively current as new information is coming on board every year. For those interested in this area , this volume is highly recommended.

This book has helped me understand the various inexpensive lab tests available to evaluate and prevent health problems without having to find a doctor to prescribe them. I had a low cost general lab test done last year and discovered my triglycerides were higher than what was optimal. I called Life Extension and one of their doctors recommended a supplement to lower them. I followed his advice and recently retested to discover that my triglycerides dropped to 50! I am now using the book as a guide to look into other health issues.

Great book if you are trying to improve your health with supplements. He give you information pertaining to your specific needs and then allows you to decide what you need most. Since supplements are often pricy and not covered by insurance, many times people don’t take what they need or all that they need. He addresses this issue and helps you determine what YOU need most to get the best benefits within your price range.
