Vagus Nerve Vitality: The Ultimate Guide to Improve Gut Health, Alleviate Stress and Achieve Optimum Health In Just 10 Minutes A Day

Description

As a holistic veterinarian and scientist, Dr. Gary Richter helps dog and cat owners to navigate the thicket of treatment options and separate the fact from the fiction. He wants us to use what actually works, not just what Western science or alternative medicine say “should” work.

This multifaceted approach to health is known as integrative medicine. Dr. Richter examines traditional medicine from many cultures alongside modern medical techniques, describing the best of complementary care and the best of conventional veterinary medicine. Every treatment he recommends has the backing of scientific research or years of successful outcomes in his clinical practice. After explaining the treatment, he offers specific recommendations for an integrative approach to common diseases, including allergies, skin conditions, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

A holistic approach to health includes nutrition, as it sets up the foundation for your pet’s health. Dr. Richter cuts through the hype in the pet-food world and explains how to choose the best commercial foods and supplements, and even includes both raw and cooked dog- and cat-food recipes for general diet as well as to treat specific needs. He also explains how we can use the right foods and supplements to “hack” the body’s processes, including the immune system.

I was looking forward to receiving this book given all the online hype.
The print quality is very poor, the page paper is very cheap and poor quality.
However the content and recipes were excellent

  2. James K Kahllo

Needed a health and suggested feeding guide for my new dog, great price on this used book.

  3. Thomas L. Doering

This is an excellent book on pet health. The author uses both conventional and naturopathic treatment methods so he is extremely knowledgeable about nearly everything re: pet health and creating longevity with pet lives.

Thank you for writing this book Dr. Richter!!!! More than I hoped for. Perfect layman book to help navigate medical appointments with our veterinarian. This book goes over the ailments your dog and cat can have so you know what to expect from your vet and how best to approach each situation. I am really excited to try the recipes and learn what herbal remedies can help each of my dogs. This book lists what herbs, supplements and probiotics are best for each medical situation. Love this book!!! It’s going to help me be the best pet mom I can be. Very grateful to own such a book!!! (Yes it is a bit medical so if you are looking for something with less medical terminology you can ignore those parts and get straight to learning about the herbal and supplemental treatments towards the back. Worth every penny just to get the homemade recipes!!!)

The book was good enough to add to my pet book collection. However, my review is about something other than the information in the book as it is about the printing. The paper is cheap and the ink is far too light. Perhaps the printer was low on ink. I have good eyesight but this is way too strenuous to read for more than a few minutes. What a disappointment!

  7. Norma Sarrasin

I refer to my book regularly instead of calling the vet

So informative! I really appreciated all the wonderful information in this book and feel better equiped to take care of and feed my dog real food and not the craps marketers sell as kibble or canned food. Even the premium dry dog food is terrible for my fur babies!

Un poco limitado por el paradigma científico. Muy explicativo y es de los pocos libros que informan sobre el uso medicinal del cannabis.

This book brings together many alternative treatments for pets, with emphasis on the more common chronic diseases, including allergies, GI inflammation, arthritis and cancer, as well as others. It is particularly useful in that it provides very specific advice on how to use some of the treatments, when not to use them, and suggested dosages, all to be reviewed with your veterinarian. The model behind it…that traditional medicine, evidence based, medicine is outstanding at addressing acute diseases, but alternative and more ancient models of medicine has something to offer with chronic diseases, makes a great deal of sense. My one criticism is that the book would have been doubly useful if there were some attempt at assessing the efficacy of the different treatments. I know there’s nothing formal available for most of them, but at least a rough grouping into say 3 categories…(1) considered useful by many veterinarians; (2) controversial; (3) little evidence for usefulness would have been very helpful. I’d put chiropractic medicine and acupuncture in the first category; and homeopathic medicine in the third.

I have had more than one occasion to recommend this book to people in stores, family, even my vet and local animal rescues! My new kitten loves the first recipe with chicken, chicken liver and green beans. I overheard a lady in a store that was upset because her vet had recommended a VERY expensive food for her cat’s pancreatitis and I told her about the recipe for just that condition in this book. She was relieved because I had just saved her a LOT of money! Shortly after getting this book my daughter’s dog got sick and we started using one of the recipes in this book. She’s getting better! I highly recommend this book. This year alone I lost two of my most beloved dogs and I’d bet my social security it was largely due to kibble, even though I bought what research had told me was pretty good stuff for them. I am devastated! I saw the infomercial on this book and ordered it right away. You have to buy a lot of supplements in the beginning, but once you get past that (they last forever), the food you put in each recipe actually ends up costing far less than the pet food in the stores. And pet food, whether canned or dry, cat or dog, is COSTING MORE AND MORE! I thought I couldn’t afford to feed my pets like this. I was wrong. And I sleep better knowing I’m giving my fur babies food that really is healthy and safe!

Love this book, there is a wealth of information for dog and cat owners to help their pets. It described ever disease possible that you dog or cat can suffer with and how you can help your pet recover. This is from diagnosis to considering veterinarian care or complementary and herbal medicine. It provide an in-depth understanding of nutrition, ingredients, preparation and a balanced diet. I definitely recommend this book to all dog/cat owners as it is the ultimate pet health guide.
